It looks like a beautiful day in Alaska as there are sunny skies and warm temperatures. Today was a travel day from Tok to Fairbanks. We stopped at a few shops as we left Tok. There is no state sales tax on merchandise here in Alaska. Another reason to spend money in AK vs. Canada.
We pulled off the road for a stop at Delta Junction to visit Tourist Information where we took pictures at the terminus sign, the official end of the Alaska Highway. We stopped at Rika's Roadhouse for lunch. For some reason we were expecting a full service restaurant, but were disappointed when all they offered were pre-made sandwiches and soup. However, the soup was really good.
From there we crossed the Big Delta Bridge where we saw the pipeline cross the river, overhead.
We learned we had a coupon in our Milestone book for free ice cream at the Knotty Gift Shop. They had an outside display of some of their burled wood carvings and some unusual gifts.
After we parked at the campground, where we will spend 4 nights, we dined at Chena's Restaurant. I had a delicious raspberry salad with salmon and a lemon buerre dressing. LeRoy had $17 meatloaf. We have a busy day planned for tomorrow and it's raining again.
